Privacy Policy
This policy explains what Maestro Italiano collects, why we use it, when service providers receive it, and the choices available to learners and authorized creators.
Effective August 17, 2026
Plain-language summary: We use data to operate the Italian-learning service, remember progress, provide requested AI and creator features, process subscriptions, protect the service, and measure performance. We do not sell personal information, and we do not ask for or store a TikTok password.
1. Information we collect
- Account information: email address, display name, authentication identifiers, plan, and account settings.
- Learning information: lesson progress, answers, review history, preferences, saved vocabulary, game progress, and conversation settings.
- Content and requests: text, files, recordings, or educational media a user deliberately submits to a lesson, AI feature, support request, or creator workflow.
- Audio: microphone input only when the user activates a voice feature. Maestro Italiano does not continuously record through this website.
- Transaction information: subscription status, product, dates, and provider references. Stripe processes payment-card details; Maestro Italiano does not store full card numbers.
- Technical and analytics information: browser/device information, IP-derived security data, pages and features used, errors, cookies, local storage, and analytics events. The public site currently uses Meta Pixel for site measurement.
2. TikTok information
When an authorized creator connects TikTok, Maestro Italiano may receive the creator's TikTok display name, avatar, open identifier, authorization tokens, available privacy and interaction settings, and publishing-status information. We use these items only to identify the connected account, display current posting choices, transfer creator-selected educational media, and verify the resulting status.
TikTok authorization tokens are treated as confidential credentials. They are not displayed publicly or sold. A creator may disconnect the account from Maestro Italiano and may also revoke access from TikTok's own settings.
3. How we use information
- Provide lessons, pronunciation, conversation, games, progress, and account features.
- Generate or adapt educational content when the user requests an AI-assisted feature.
- Prepare a creator-selected export and, only after the required review and consent, transfer it to TikTok or another selected service.
- Process subscriptions, prevent fraud and abuse, troubleshoot failures, and maintain security.
- Understand which public pages and features work well and improve the service.
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce these Terms.
4. Service providers and disclosure
We disclose only the information needed for a provider to perform a requested or operational function. Providers may include hosting and database services, Supabase for supported account functions, Stripe for payments, approved AI providers for requested AI features, TikTok for authorized account and content-posting functions, analytics services, and security or error-monitoring providers. These providers operate under their own terms and privacy policies.
We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect users or the service, or as part of a business transfer subject to appropriate safeguards. We do not sell personal information.
5. Cookies and local storage
Maestro Italiano uses browser storage and cookies to maintain sessions, save preferences and local learning progress, protect requests, and measure use. Browser controls can clear or block storage, although doing so may reset local progress or prevent account features from working.
6. Retention and security
We retain information only as long as reasonably needed to provide the service, meet legal and accounting duties, resolve disputes, or protect against abuse. Retention varies by data type. We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards, but no internet service can promise absolute security.
7. Your choices
- Review or change available profile, privacy, voice, and learning settings.
- Disconnect TikTok or another connected service and revoke its authorization at the provider.
- Request access, correction, or deletion through the in-application Support and Data Deletion pages.
- Clear locally stored learning data using browser controls.
- Unsubscribe from nonessential email using the link provided in the message.
For the deletion process, see the Data Deletion instructions.
8. Children
Maestro Italiano is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from a child under 13. A parent or guardian who believes a child submitted information should use the Support page so we can investigate and delete it where required.
9. Changes and contact
We may update this policy as the service changes. The effective date above will change when a material revision is published. Privacy questions and rights requests can be submitted through the Maestro Italiano Support page.
